    Cheapest car insurance, pls help!

    Hey guys

Just been offered a G reg Toyota Corolla and im trying to get some decent quotes online, the cheapest being just under a grand. This is my first car, and after passing my test just over 18 months ago during my "stoodent" days im finally in a financial situation to get myself a car (I hate bloody busses!)

Anyways, the cheapest I have got so far have been £939 with elephant.co.uk and £1051 with Lloyds TSB (both 3rd party F&T) and I was wondering what you guys would recommend? It seems that im going to need £200 up front with most other insurers, including elephant, but I cant find anything on Lloyds TSB to say I need an upfront fee? What would you guys do? Any other insurers that I can get cheaper than that?

    Cheers

    Chris

A lot of people seem to recommend Tesco these days for cheap quotes, but I'm with Directline. So far they have been the cheapest I have found for myself, including Tesco. I've never had a problem with them either when I have had to make a claim.

My g/f got the cheapest quote from Asda of all people, seems they're trying to get into the market so offering some good prices. Worth a look, not sure what they're like for new drivers though...

confused.com can turn up the odd good one. Found a company that did me FC for £200 less than the next would do TPFT.

Random, I'm 25 I past my test last year in march and just got my car insurance sorted. For a 2001 1.5l Nissan Almera S 3 door Tesco have quoted me £953 Fully Comp with £200 excess.

Well fook me, I just thought I'd look up before I buy from tesco. I've just tried elephant before adding me mum as a named driver it was 1200+ for fully comp, after adding me mum it's down to £750 class!

    Thanks project187 for the tip!

I know why, they charge people like me and arm and a leg and pass the saving onto others

I used confused.com for a quote for my 1.2 Clio, £197 third party fire and theft, that was with having no NCB's and me having held a licence for under a year
