I left Plus.Net not to long ago and events like this are why.

Everyone makes mistakes but plusnet seem to be making more then most at the moment, unfortunantly it isnt just the 'out of touch' management but also their CS and technical guys just cant seem to get it right, every problem they do manage fix brings up ten more.

Ironically this incompetance may well be whats kept them independent, they seem to just bob along not attracting the atttention of the 'Big Boys' because they are neither a threat nor a struggling (read - Cheap) entity.

Wonder if any of my free dail-up accounts mail was deleted, would only be adverts anyways.

how long before the put the responsibility on the users. you have to empty your mail account after 30 days all old mail will be deleted.

they have a responsibiliy for abuse / ripper queries to hold the mail headers on all email. that would be interesting if they have a query on a account they have lost

I am with Plusnet at the moment and have no major problems to be honest (or none that I may have been 'emailed' about), but if they wanted to free up hard disk space that isn't the way to do it and hard disks are fairly cheap nowadays anyhow!

I really, really wouldn't like to be the engineer that had to explain this lot to his boss. A very interesting story though and it was surprising just how fast things moved once they realised they'd lost the data. Shame that they couldn't recover it!
