Why didnt you just upload it via the browser ?

It’s usually for emergency’s when you can’t get to the web interface.
Just login to webadmin, update firmware, browse to file and you're done

    Ah.

Well in that case I take it all back - aside from the fact that ADSL was harder to get running than it should of been

I'm currently making use of the VOIP stuff - very impressive - with VOIPCheap and that was pretty simple to setup.

Does the auto setup ever work?

wow wireless that works! having gone from d-link access point to a linksys access point and all of them being utter crap, i would happily pay ~ 100 for something decent that does its job. common problems i have are weak signal in my room (3rd floor), internet cuts out, wireless access point needs restarting (unplugging) before it works again. the way its run is theres a normal router into which the cable modem is plugged. then the computer next to that is plugged into the router. then the wireless access point is also plugged into the router, and the wireless clients connect to that. any help appreciated

i should also add that the webadmin page only ever works from the pc connected to the router and none of the one's using the wireless connection

So? Use DHCP and it'll give your computers appropriate IPs. You can even tell the router to give specific MACs a fixed IP, so you can set up port forwarding rules.

Have you got shares in Draytek? Calm down I had a whole bunch of devices configured (without DHCP for various reasons) on the more usual subnet of 198.168.0.x - to even connect to the router of course this has to be changed - hence it was a tad annoying as it's a rather arbitary choice to 'be different' (netgear, linksys et al all use the same..) by Draytek. As for port forwarding - the nice thing about the Draytek is that upnp actually works which means I don't need to setup that at all..

I didn't say 'OMFG it was the end of the world and i didn't know how to fix it and draytek are the suxorsss dude' - I said a 'bit annoying'

I've got an old 2600We at my parents house still going strong - never been rebooted in over 12 months.

The 2800G at my home is rock solid and talks to my PC at 108Mbps with other products connecting at their (lower) full speed.

As others have said, it's well worth the cash as it saves on quite a few headaches.

    [Edit] I meant 'headaches'...
