Exclamation NTL modems Killed by Software update.

Hello I havent been on for a week because my old silver modem died on me.

For the last few weeks it was getting slower and slower falling from 3.7 Mbps
to 2 then to 1 then 700, 400, 300, dead, then 1 Mbps again then dead.
Resetting the modem, when the lights flash one after the other the ethernet
and upload no longer came on.

My bothers silver modem also died about a week earlier and when mine did I
thought to myself I wonder if there was a software update. Today the NTL
bloke come round with a new purple one and said that a software update
was taking out a lot of the silver modems and hes had to replace quite a few
    recently.

So if your connection is slow where it was once rock solid then maybe thats why

Anyone else had/heard of this problem?
