Out of nowhere, my laptop is now blind to my own wireless network

My laptop with built-in wi-fi is suddenly blind to the house's wi-fi router. i left the laptop on alone for a few hours came back and now it can only see the neighbour's networks

now i know what you're thinking, the routers at fault, but my housemates can still connect just fine to the router wirelessly as if nothing changed.

So the router is fine, and my laptop can pick up other wireless networks just fine, but is mysteriously ignoring my own?

I dont even know what to try next, i'm connecting now direct with a cat5, have tried restarting, checking device settings etc

I'd delete your network connection for the wireless card (remove the drivers) and go through the setup procedure again for your wireless card. Ensure on the router that your mac address isn't blocked, you have the same encryption setup as the router, your ip address is valid or have DHCP enabled.

Ok tried what you said about deleting/uninstalling the wi-fi connection, it for some reason worked but i'm not sure what happened cause after restarting it was back there without me re-installing it. very strange

I've had this before, ended up changing the SSID to have a space in front of it.

This happens now again with all the wireless laptops I've used... only a restart cures it normally

arh the joys of WiFi.... normally a reboot is enough to restore the connection, but sometimes re-installing drivers is required. Just on of them things sent to confuse and annoy!
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.
