    Broadband Connection Question??????

I have recentley 'upgraded' to a BT home Hub.
Over Xmas I was using the connection a fair bit and doing quite a bit of WoW'ing.

I was finding that when playing the game would start to get very glitchy.....kinda like a stuttering frame rate, BUT the frame rate indicator on my toolbar didnt fluctute at all.
What DID change was the data and internet lights on my home Hub router went mad flasing constantly throughout the jerky period.
I have tried turning off background programs and checking the Blizzard dowmloader wasn't active, anyone else had these problems or can give me any tips please

Lots of people have trouble with the homehub. I found just going back to my old BT voyager router fixed all my probs and didn't affect my speed at all.

Might be worth a try, also remember for the first week or two your internet connection will reset itself constantly for speed testing and a like. If your problem is worse in the evening it could just be the tail end of this.

A wireless hub will introduce more db loss into the connection . The system will try and balance out over a 10 day period by adjusting various things to try and achieve the best rate for the line. Interleaving can be employed and some say that this can be a drawback for gamers. You can ask your isp to have this turned off.

Some ISPs like Sky refuse to turn off interleaving for customers depending on the distance they are from the exchange.

    Tried a 'wired' connection ?

If you're on ADSL2+ you'll have interleaving, if not you won't.

Interleaving gets isp's higher speeds for a given distance so they can provide an ADSL service on ADSL2+ who perhaps couldn't get ADSL before, this is why they are reluctant to change profile.

Don't think thats strictly true. It could be on or off dependent on how your BRAS profile is set.

You are right about the distances tho' - the further you are from the exchange its more likely you may need it turned on - but BT/ISP should deal with this

If by adsl2 you mean max rate ie 512- 8 meg then its used but prob not used on fixed adsl ie 512 or 1 m or 2meg.
