Dave as I said on MSN I'd chose drayteks from experience - Theres a reason I had 50 draytek 2600's

probably a stupid question, but do draytek's support ethernet for internet source?
ie, from an ntl modem into that, or are they just adsl
or would you just use a normal switch port? (i've only used dlink + linksys routers in the past)
the 2800's are ADSL routers , but the 2900's are the ethernet ones.

The 2800`s do have issues with DSL max. There have been firmware updates which should resolve the issue but If memory serves the firmwares are dependant on the DSLAM you are connected to.
I like my draytek 2910G, wireless is...well wireless - it was ok at best but that could've been down to the netgear WGT311 we were using, along with a Hawking antenna.
The print server function is also a bit flakey - once setup it's ok but then leave it for a few days and the router needs turning off/on before the printer will work.
At the moment I'm still using the firmware which it came with - which will be the very first one as I had pre-ordered it so I had it on release. I may update it one day but for now I'll let it be.
This is the first time I have ever heard of an issue with Drayteks and ADSLmax - where did you hear it from?
As for DSLAM dependant - not sure how as they are all updated to the same firmware (the DSLAMs) at around the same time. Any issues that happen from a different DSLAM is probably more down to dodgy wiring.
There is a UK2 firmware to help with noisey lines, but ive never seen DSLAM dependant firmware - Got a link?
From work (I work for Zen Internet)
We used to supply the draytek 2800 routers but since BT rolled out MAX we have had a lot of problems where the drayteks would drop every 5 minutes or so.
We had contact with people at Draytek and where using beta firmwares. The reason for the difference versions of the beta firmware was due to the different DSLAMS working in slightly different ways. They must have resolved the issue with the latest releases though.
The funny part IMO is that the 2800 is the newer router which was supposedly designed for max and yet it had issues with it but the 2600 is solid as a rock with max.
We now supply speedtouch routers. the 585 is a very nice piece of kit and out of all the routers that we tested the speedtouch range are pretty good. They`ve come a long way since the 510 days
There is loads of 2800s on eBay guess I will buy one today
I got into draytek's when they where Zen's standard router too - best combination of ISP/Hardware I've used
