Yes.
I was also the disciplinarian, so feel quite proud that I have 2 of the best young adults you could ever have the pleasure to meet.

Absolutely. To the extent that I feel bad because I can't lactate!
hey im a young dad! but im def hands on....and all the dads around me that i know are pretty hands on....ive been pee'd on a fair few times....and thrown up on....and all the rest of it, but i wouldnt change it i miss the first year of my 4 year old, she was so much more loving lol either way....hands on for me
Yeah - I was hands-on to the point of sometimes being a bit too self-righteous about it at times!
When I mentioned that the Mrs was going out one night: "Ooh, so are you baby sitting then?". "No. I'm looking after my son."
"What nappies does she use for the baby?" "WE use Pampers on him"
That sort of thing, plus a lot of other baby-related things that were (unnecessarily) mother-specific
Plus there was the general frustration that people were surprised that a 22 year old man knew what he was doing. "DUUUUH, WHICH END DO I PUT THE BOTTLE IN?!?!"
Thats what my wife and i did, in the pitiful 2 weeks of paternity leave that i got i did absolutely everything for our little boy (Barr the feeding!). Had to give the wife a crash course in changing nappies and bathing before i went back to work! But then due to my changing job and it not working out, she went back to work instead of me! Been a full time dad for 2 years now!
Hands on being:
- Nappy changes. << Used to do them all (Potty training FTW!)
- Bathing. << Every time!
- Feeding. << Not before 6 months, but all the time after.
- Settling when upset. << Every time!
- Putting them down to sleep. << Every time!
- Anything else you can think of. << Most things!
I enjoy spending time with the boy more than anyone else!
Dak was more hands on with our second baby. He did nappies, bathing etc. and the occassional feed with first born, by the time number two came he was doing all night feeding at the weekend so I could sleep . He was a young dad - I think it's more to do with confidence than age.
wow you remind me of myself did you ever use the mothercare unit? the part they have for "young mums" to feed there babys? i did and got asked to leave as a women was breast feeding!!! dads are not respected enough nowa days....in fact i dont think they ever have? im forever rewording staff when buying items for my kids...drives me insane...and when you baby is first born correct me if im wrong but did people address her at ALL times or you aswell?? i had them addressing the mother.....very anoying but i would of course but in and answer qeustions age and such kind of qeustions lol
Mrs Dak - Totaly agree
Jon was.... He did his share of late night feeds and was a house husband after Luke was born as I went back to work
Very much hands on, in fact if I was not I'd see myself being devoiced very fast
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?
I like to think I'm pretty hands on with Hayden during the time I spend with her at home.
The only thing I resent is being a damn heavy sleeper. When I go bed from say 2 am until 6-8 am I sleep in such a heavy sleep that no noise at all can awaken me from my coma-like sleep (with my eyes 1/2 open) and to be woken usually takes some major physical shaking from someone which is why people like Nick can play stack the cats or throw other things on me without any movement from me at all.
Oh yes indeed!
Looked after my son from the age of 18 months and my daughter from birth. seen a fair share of nappies in my time.
Son now at Uni and daughter at college.
