    Lightbulb Youtube for kids?

Just a quick question not necessarily for me but my brother in law who is 4 and has really taken to the family ipad watching youtube videos. The only reason for this post is to find a way to restrict the content being played on the ipad. I know that there is youtube for kids in the US and certain modifications on android but nothing that I know of for UK apple products. Obviously we don't want to remove the app entirely because the majority of the time he watches nursery rhymes and kids toy's...
    Any help is appreciated!

    Re: Youtube for kids?

i don't think so. Access so social media (freely) should not be given to kids. Remember You-tube have all kind of videos on it.

I think you can only restrict by adding a passcode to the tablet, not content being played after accessing...

    Re: Youtube for kids?

Thanks for the replies guys but he is basically watched all the time on the ipad and we are constantly making sure he isn't on inappropriate content for his age, I just wondered if there was another measure that could be taken without stopping him enjoying his nursery rhymes aha but it appears there is not...

    Settings>restricted content

That's as far as filtering goes on the app at least.

    Re: Youtube for kids?

Closest thing is make a youtube account, keep it signed into that and set age restrictions on that youtube account I think? That wont stop him from seeing the porn people uploaded with teletubies as the title though...

    Re: Youtube for kids?

Just download the youtube kids application from the app store for your device and make them use this instead - its better for locking down access.

    Re: Youtube for kids?

If any one is blocking it, PC or tablet, how are you blocking it. From the router, or just in restricted apps in the browser.

    Re: Youtube for kids?

I've never tried any of the restriction features on YouTube but I cant imagine they would work very effectively. I'd just limit access to the ipad; a 4 year old should probably be playing with toys.

    Re: Youtube for kids?

There is no way to block specific content on youtube, unfortunately. Only to educate the kid, and watch him carefully.. I know it doesn't help much but this is the reality. Either block the entire youtube or let it be as it is...

    Re: Youtube for kids?

Who is your ISP, most ISPs now have restricted content filters (I know BT do) and i t works better that just the restricted content option on youtube and as a father of a 4 and 7 year old you really do want to be filtering the internet, the advert on you tube click accidentally can quickly move children out of safer spaces.

    Re: Youtube for kids?

We have 2 girls aged 5 and 4. The both have Hudls. We listen to what they are doing but are generally pretty good as long as you start them off with a kids video. Element of trust and element of keeping a (little bit) of an eye out.

    Re: Youtube for kids?

You could use the youtube for kids app.

We have a 5 year old and a 4 year old and as long as you start them off on kids programmes, they are very good. I dont think they have ever strayed in the last year of them messing around when they want to.

Obviously, keep an ear open on what they are doing too.
