E-mu are creative labs' "pro" division... sadly they have the same respect for drivers as their consumer level division. For a dream rig how about a handful of Pro Tools HD 2 Accel PCIe cards (circa. £8k each). woooooooo hooooooo

The Plextor DVD drive would have to be second hand, as Plextor have pulled out of the consumer market...

I would want a dual xeon X5355 system with 64GB RAM

    Thats £11,455.92 on ram lol

That should make vista speedy LOL

TBH though i would proably go for a top apple

My dream computer would be a Dell XPS system...

    lol. Only joking.

I'm with Fabula though. Even if I win the lottery I wouldn't put together something that runs into the thousands (i.e. £4000+). I wouldn't feel I would be getting much more for the money.

Anyway, I would be quite happy with the following:

    Case: Silverstone Temjin SST-TJ09 Black
    Power Supply: Seasonic S12-HT 650W
Motherboard: Asus P5W DH Deluxe 975X (I would prefer something rock solid; the 680i seems a bit too buggy still...)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 (2.66 GHz)
Cooling: Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler
Memory: 2GB Corsair XMS2 Dominator DDR2-1066 EPP TwinX Pack
    Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB (x2)
Floppy Drive: Mitsumi 7-in-1 Memory Reader / Floppy Drive Black
    DVD-RW: Pioneer DVR-112BK
Video Card: 768MB eVGA GeForce 8800 GTX KO
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS Edition
    Speakers: Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Digital
    Keyboard: Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Mouse: Logitech G5 Laser Gaming Mouse

So, since this all comes to a modest price, anyone willing to help out?

And where exactly would they be powered from?

My understanding was that was why they used the PCI slots...

Oh and 15k SAS drives (if you have enough of them) are going to be quick... 64 off one controller anyone?

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=434412
    in octo crossfire lol.
a monitor that can support that res.
8gb of RAM 1300mhz with the best quad cpu oc'ed at 5.5ghz, with the best water cooling.
To start it you will need one of those weird things to start F1 cars
    2000watt psu.
    uber expensive sound system.
and the table has to be made out of gold too. oh and chair

So a few 30" Apple Cinema displays?

Why not go for platinum over gold, or perhaps titanium?

which ever is more expensive, unless I could use the titanium as a reactor to use the power of uranium. Humm how do you make a hydrogen bomb, and what do you need...?

No-one with whacky wish list then, like an 8 cpu board?

I think my dad would want one of these or similar so he could run 4 dual head 8800GTX graphics cards. Then he could surround himself with LCD panels in a mock plane cockpit and play flight sims

Anything with water cooling or some sort of freezing ability....stupid components run too hot.

Dual Xeon Quad Cores with each core having 2 GB of Ram.

    Watercooled and overclocked 8800GTX.

Two Raid 5 arrays, one with Raptors (Programs), One with 750GB Seagates (Storage). For the OS I would have 2 of the 16GB Supertalent Solid State hard drives in a Raid Array so you get 32GB Of space.

OS would naturally be Vista Ultimate 64Bit.

Would all be housed in a Silverstone Temjin TJ09 with some custom DD/EK watercooling.

Logitech 5.1 Speakers along with G5/G15 combination (unless of course I can source one of those Optimus keyboards).

Blu-Ray burner, 1100W Tagan PSU and A Hauppage TV tuner.

The monitor, it would have to be a Dell 30" or possibly as the graphics would be a slightly limiting factor, 2 x 24.1" Eizo widescreens.

All in should set you back £12,000.

    My dream PC would be:

Case: Mountain Mods U2-UFO custom paint job or powder coat by ChilledPC
    CPU: QX6700
Mobo: best 680i, atm probabilly Asus Striker Extreme
RAM: 4Gb of the most overclocking RAM
    Graphics: 2 x 8800GTX
Hard drive: 2 x 150Gb Raptor X RAID 0 and 2 x 750gb hard drives in RAID 1 or some form of Solid State hard drives.
    Optical drives: 2 x Pioneer BDR-101ABK (blu-ray)
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro
    Monitor: Dell Ultrasharp 3007WFP 30"
    Power: 2 x 1000W Enermax Galaxys
    Speakers: Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Digital
    Keyboard: Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
    Mouse: Logitech MX Revolution

And now for the best part the cooling.

Everything a part form the CPU and GPUS will be watercooled that includes RAM, hard drives everything.

CPU cooler: I will get one of these from Tom.

    Chilled PC Chilly1 Xtreme Edition

    http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/prod...products_id=69

GPU cooler: I would get piotres to build me one of these.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=134852

Both phase changers will be the same colour of the case done by ChilledPC

Oh yeah I would have a water chiller to chill the water in the water cooling.

    And that should do me.
