Get an x2 3800 from ebuyer or scan for £86 inc delivery. I bought the x2 4200 oem from scan with a zalman 9500 cooler. Running stable at 2.57 GHZ and low temps. Runs games great and vista is not a problem for it.

My brother just bought an Opteron 170 from Scan (had to order it which took a few weeks) as an upgrade from his 3700 San Diego. Cost £120 and came with a nice AMD 4 heatpipe cooler, but he swapped it for a Freezer 64 and now has the chip at 2.9 GHz stable with stock voltage and nice temps.
ok, I took the advice given and plumped for a X2 3800+ which i intend to Overclock. I have an Akasa Heatpipe cooler and an AN8 Ultra board. Has anyone got a guide to the overclocking options this board offers? Uguru does not seem to like Vista so cant do it through there. TIA

Vista Home Premium 32bit

It's better to overclock through the BIOS anyway.
