Ok, I've asked, and apparently it's safe.

So what do you guys think of my choice of speakers for 5.1? Think I can get nice quality out of it?

Well ive had my megaworks 5.1 (old version) for umm 3 or 4 years? hmm now thats scary thinking back lol... Not one fault or degradation in sound.

I would go with creative choice as creative are rebranded cambridge soundworks equipment or otherwise known as creative bought the company lol.

doesnt mean that the products are "cambridge soundworks" quality. If anything i would say that makes cambridge look worse

i know, im just saying that the cambridge audio statement isnt relevant. Creative also own EMU which is the proffessional sound recording/music production wing of the comapny yet you dont see the the technology seeping from their products into the standard creative range. The only similarity between the products it the fact they are owned by creative

Looking at those speakers I chose for 5.1, it says they have an SNR of 85dB, and a frequency range of 35hz-20khz. Does this seem good to you guys?

The Giga pro gamer are very good, excellent reviews on custom pc.

Friends got them twinned with an X-Fi soundcard. The sound quality is excellent.
Im not a creative fanboy, tbh i dont admire the company.

Only thing with the speakers is his parents moan too much apparently they can be heard everywhere but thats due to the volume.

    Recommend the speakers A+

Lookin' good so far, except for the fact that Crazymonkey brought up. The volume!

Are they really too loud? Can one think of the wattage as being directly representative of the volume, or sound pressure, what ever you want to call it? I mean, if the wattage is increased 2x, will the loudness also be increased exactly 2x? Or is there something else (other than the obvious wasted energy through heat)?

no thats not how it all works. Dont worry about volume, the bass will be boomy but you can always adjust the various volumes using your soundccard control panel or the media players graphic equalizer
