Hi.
Looking to place an order for a matched pair of 2 x 1GB of RAM for a Dell Dimension 9200 desktop (C2D E6600).
The .pdf manual states that the mobo supports PC4200, PC5300 and PC6400 RAM.
Have been looking at Crucial RAM amongst other brands and was wondering if there's a noticeable speed difference for everyday use excluding games (internet, e-mail, dvd encoding and burning, playback of HD media content etc) between using PC5300 and PC6400? Prices are £82.24 (PC5300) and £149.57 (PC6400 Ballistix).
Do peeps think it's overkill using PC6400 for my planned uses?
My guess is that it will make the biggest difference to overclockers and hardcore gamers? Is there a big difference in performance between the two, after all it's almost double the price?
Thanks.
Cheekster.
