It is Ati's 2nd down card vs Nvidia's 2nd down card so not exactly cooked...
Can I say it twice?
3rd time lucky.. ... just had to do it..
Me want Ultrabook
Looks to be on a par with a GTX, and as everyone else has pointed out, its not the top of the range, so its looking good for ATI, unless the quad core flops
AMD/ATI might be able to start making back their $600m loss from the last quarter then
Well without AMD/ATi ..intel and nvidia they can price things however they want..so you better hope they make it back lol
Can someone enlighten me on 'Stream processors'? It seems to be one of the highlight of the 2900XT - but what does it actually mean?
They didn't want to call them specifically pixel, vertex or geommetry shaders, because they're general purpose and can do all of those, possibly more. So they call them stream processors.
They're basically small sub-processors, which you can use to process equations such as how a pixel colour should change based on the light hitting it, or to calculate shadow etc. Graphics stuff has become massively parrallel recently and all manufacturers found they could increase processing power better by using more of these sub-processors in parrallel than just by increasing clock speed.
Do you think its worth holding out for this card, was in the process of trying to decide which GTS to buy. How do you think it will compare price wise to the GTS and when will we be able to purchase one???
