    sometimes, yes, though it varies from test ot test. I dont know for sure, but I'd guess it's to do with the fact that while the data is stored on the drive in a denser format, you still gotta READ it ...and thats done through the same channels on the read head.

    Tech Report did a test on lads of drives and the Barracuda .10 was on test, and bear in mind it beat non perp technology a lot of times....every now and then this happened (this example on Doom3)


    Now...that Caviar SE16 AND the Barracdua .10 are both perp technology...

    Go figure, cos I can't. Both were slowest, and yet FarCry
    it liked Perp technology.

    However...I'd still say the AAKS is a lovely drive and it IS faster than the Enterprise drive. I just get the feling that WD haven't put it on their Enterprise drive yet...for a reason.

    Just because a few benchmarks say something doesn't mean they are right. Perpendicular technology is only just new...
