Which is faster, 9x333 or 8x375 on a q6600? Results inside

I just read the FSB1333 Intel Processors & New 2007 CPU Charts article over at TH.com and am happy to see that the testers over there have drawn the same conclusion that I have about fixed final core speeds with higher and higher FSB speeds: faster FSB speeds w/ a C2Q/C2D don't equate to faster real-world benchmarks.

Have a look at page 8 from their article comparing the "old" 1066 MHz FSB to the "new" 1333 MHz FSB chips: average gain <1 &#37;.

Great thread graysky, nice to see someone taking a scientific approach

In reference to this and the TH articles, it appears there is little to gain with the increased FSB. therefore if you wanted to overclock the cojones off your processor, are we going to be better off using a new 1333 chip or the good old 1066 based ones. As the only tool for overclocking is upping the FSB, you will reach the limits of a motherboard quicker with the new 1333 chips...

All that the new 1333MHz 6x50's are providing is lower multipliers for the same speed

Just food for thought...

mind you, if the P35's can surpass 500MHz (2000MHz quad pumped) it may be a mute point, as you can probably reach the limit of the chip with that. But I'd impressed if all the P35s can hit 500MHz
