I don't seem to be able to post a url but maybe you can still click or copy and paste the link above for a piccy of my CPU-z readings.
I have been following the guide with my new and first self built system (it's been running faultlessly since I first pressed the power button :-D ) :
Q6600 (9 x 333)
P5K Deluxe Wifi Ap
2 x 1024 8500C5D Corsair Dominator XMS2
I've just got to the ram timings section and I've noticed that, although my bios settings are now set to 4-4-4-15, CPU-z is reporting them as 32-5-2-15 under the memory tab and as DDR3 instead of DDR2?!
Can anyone shed any light on what is going on?! Under the SPD tab everything appears to be showing correctly. Admittedly I am a bit of a noob but I learn quickly :-)

what bios are you using, think the early bios caused a few glitches like that, later bios sorted it.although my bios settings are now set to 4-4-4-15, CPU-z is reporting them as 32-5-2-15
I haven't updated to 0501 so I'll give that a go and report back
I really should update mine **cough***0304***cough***
haha if it aint broke dont fix it, but 0404 seems to have no probs.
Quickie question. Check specs so u know what I have. Earlier today I OC it to 400fsb ie 3.6. Only reason I wanted to do this is so that when I goto bed at night and leave the Pc on, it can fold for Hexus(a bit quicker hopefully). At stock it folded a unit in 14 minutes, but weirdly at 3.6 it took the same amount of time.
So I dont get why the higher clockspeed isnt yielding anything at all. Could it be this strap thing that Ive heard of lol Ive never gotten what it meant or what it has to do with
No, the strap on the P5K is pretty much linear, so no nasty dips in performance through all the useable bandwidth for most people.
There might have been other things running at the time?
Dont forget that 400FSB is very high for a 9x multi CPU for most people, and 3.6Ghz isnt doable for 24/7 on a lot of CPUs.
If the CPU is up to it, the board wont let you down, but you are right up to the RAMs limit.
My timings are all working and showing correctly now that I have Bios 0501 - thanks for the help and thanks for a great guide Clunk!
Glad it worked but to be honest i'm only a bios on from Clunk, running happily with 0311
It's the 1st bios that ther boards ship with that gives the issues.
luck
Hey All!
Does anyone know a critycal temperature for RAM chips? I have a device that can measure it.
No idea about a critical temperature.
My rule of thumb is to use a fan/cooler on RAM that runs over 2.0v/2.1v, or if you are using 4x sticks.
