sometimes after turning the pc on, it says its find it in the jmicron bit, but then most of times it says no driver found or sumin like that.

grrr ive updated evrything from th asus website and jmicron site.
can anyone shed some light ? and has anyone had similar problems?

Have you updated the BIOS ever?

Try disabling legacy USB, thats often a cause of problems.

Have you tried a fresh install of windows? Are you using vista? Does it do the same in XP?

    help at hand

    Hi prits_88,

Go to ASUS forum discussion. Select motherboard, go to P5W DH deluxe mobo and see an answer to your problem. Even if your mobo is different this answer will work.
    regards

    Help at hand

    Hi,
I have given below one of the solutions for esata/hdd problem. It belongs to one Mr.King, a regular contributor to the ASUS forum. Even he says that the drive initially was not visible in the My computer, but later it was seen in my computer. All the best.

Download the newest Jmicron drivers found in gnolnats sticky on the first page in our forum.
    2. Reboot and go into the bios. Make sure the JMicron controller is enabled and set it to ACHI. I needed to do this because I disabled my controller because it was not being used.
    3. Shut off your computer and hook e-sata cable to drive enclosure and the orange e-sata port located just below the orange 1394 port.
4.Turn on your hard drive enclosure and your computer and wait for windows to find and recognize your 'New Hardware'.
5 At this point, locate the drivers manually and use the current JMicron Drivers you now have in hand. Windows will now tell you that Installation of New Hardware is Complete.
    6. Go into Control Panel and click on 'Disk Management' Find your new drive.. It will say it is unalocated. This what confused me as I could not find this drive when I looked for it in 'My Computer'
    7. Right Click on the box containing your drive and select 'Partition' You will be given options for labelling, formatting, etc. I just did a quick format and the drive was ready to go. I will now show up as a SCII drive with other internal drives in 'My Computer'.
    10. Thats it, the e-sata drive works great and takes full advantage of ACHI

thanks for the help BUT i dont have a "disk management" on my control panel screen.

i am running windows vista 64 bit, and i assume that the guide was for people using windows XP.

do u know what the vista equivalent to "disk management" is?
