Doesnt supreme commander use all 4 cores too.

I thought that was why they chipped it with the quad cores a few weeks back.

Re: which Intel Core Duo processor for my new system

Any of the processors being discussed could run almost anything MS Office throws at them without any trouble at all so it would barely affect one core - no need for it to be multi-threaded. I dont know if it is or not, it just wouldnt be necessary.

FSX SP1 will use all 4 cores.
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

Re: which Intel Core Duo processor for my new system

this thread is getting very interesting

    q6600 2.4 ghz fsb 1066
    e6850 2.66 ghx fsb 1333

isn't a faster FSB better or doesn't it make a differences.

does anyone know how much you can overclock these processor to the max? any experiences??

I think u are missing the point here. Of course 1333 is better than 1066 but than with Q6600 u have 4 cores doing the work (provided app is multithreaded) instead of 2, it may not be a huge performance in short term, like someone mentioned earlier, but in year or two you will start to get your money's worth.

Look at the list of apps, this list will keep on growing to take adventage of multi core CPUs and who know we may have multi core GPUs in near future.

I am no overclocker so can't tell you any thing about it.

Re: which Intel Core Duo processor for my new system

From a video editing point of view, Sony Vegas 7 is multi-threaded and can make use of up to 4 cores. If you are working with hi-def footage I believe the horsepower of the Q6600 allows you to edit in native format without using an intermediate codec.
Apparently, "Do whatever you like" should NOT be considered authorisation to build my uber rig!
