the card is slightly faster for the same price, whats not to see?
That takes teh biscuit. Actually we have the following at Scan:
EVGA 1600/500 £179.99 in stock
BFG 1600/550 £197.39 not in stock
EVGA 1700/576 £197.33 in stock
BFG 1700/580 £210.31 not in stock
EVGA 1700/576 with arctic cooling £219.58 in stock
Clearly if you want to buy an OC'd card EVGA have better deals than BFG.
Just out of interest: EVGA 8800GTS 640MB KO ACS3 @ £266
From current reports the 640mb cards only get a couple of fps higher than the 320mb ones, not worth the extra £80 atm.
£200 max I want to spend?
yeh, I was aware of that before I got it, I ended up going 640MB for stuff like heavy texture scenes for stuff I might want to do further down the line. I've made plenty of savings so far from the budget I've earmarked. I put that up partly because the price is shifting on it.
Only you know what you want to spend umster, baring in mind there's probably only a thin slither of real world difference in performance between the products mentioned. It really does come down to the overall package and what you consider value for your money. Sparkle, PNY, Ino3D, XFX 8800 gts 320MB's all dip below the £200 mark.
I ended up going for 320MB XFX 8800GTS XT, PCI-E (x16), Mem 1700MHz, GPU 560MHz, 96 Streams, 2x Dual Link DVI/HDTV as scan had it in stock... I hope I have made a good decision
