I have this really annoying and recurring problem where, if I insert a DVD or a CD into my DVD drive windows (XP) completely locks up and the disk just doesn't get read. It spins slowly for a couple of seconds and then spins at full speed, as if to say it is going to read the disk but nothing comes of it.
Before I inserted a new mobo a couple of months back the drive worked fine, but since installing my P5B-Deluxe WiFi mobo I have had issues with the DVD drive reading disks, the drive is a Pioneer DVR-111. When I first had this issue I managed to solve it and the drive was working as it should, but I went to install something just now and the same problem arose and I am not sure how to proceed, I haven't a clue, nor do I remember how it solved the issue before. I have a feeling it could be something in the BIOS but I am not entirely sure what exactly. I have SATA turned off since I was having issues with the JMicron controller when linux was booting, but even so the drive is over IDE and it has been working. I have uninstalled the drive from windows and let it detect, and install it again the next time it booted up, but it didn't solve anything.
So I was wondering if you guys have any sort of idea as to what could be the problem?
