    second hand shuttle - bargain?

A colleague has offered me his Shuttle set up for £400. The details are:

Shuttle SB61G2 with a 2.8Ghz processor, 1G RAM, 400MHz FSB, 120G SATA hard drive built in wireless NIC (A and B)
    card reader
    CD/DVD read/write
    CV22 card
    Sceptre s-Naga II 19" - LCD monitor
    wireless keyboard and mouse.

The Shuttle for factor is desirable but it sounds a bit pricey when I look at what is advertised for £400.

Is it a good deal? If not, what should I offer?

    Any thoughts gratefully received.

£400 is way too much even for a shuttle at that spec.

Re: second hand shuttle - bargain?

A socket AM2 22G2 is 140 quid for the barebone.
Add 42 quid for an X2-3800 EE
1GB of ram for 28 quid
160GB Hard drive for 35 quid

20 quid should get you a DVD writer.

You are left with 135 quid for a copy of Windows, keyboard and mouse, wireless LAN. Doesn't leave anything for an LCD panel.

So, a newer PC would be quieter and faster with a guarantee, but you have to build it yourself and it will cost a little more (or get a shop to build it and pay another 50 quid or so).

Build your own if you want a SFF rig, or as prev sugg buy a built one from the likes of dell, mesh or scan.

Does your mate know much about computers? Trying to find out why he's priced it so high
