    Asus P5K Deluxe Setup Help

    Hi all,

I am in the process of building a new system and I need help in setting up the motherboard connections and Bios settings

    I have the following devices:

    2 x sata DVD-RW's
    2x sata 500gb HDD

Please can you advise me which sata connectors on the MB I need to connect them too. (there are 4 red 1,2,5,6 & 2 black 3 & 4)

one 500gb drive will be used for O/S Windows XP Pro and other one will be used for apps and downloads.

Do the HDD's need to be set to master and slave, as I didn't see any jumpers on then. (500 Gb Western Digital WD5000AAKS Caviar SE16, SATA300, 7200 rpm, 16MB Cache, 8.9 ms)

I'm not sure what the bios setting should be also

    Thank you

    Umster

Just put your primary drive, one with windows on the first red sata connector. The rest just on the other red ones. Thats it, there is no other settingup to be done.

Re: Asus P5K Deluxe Setup Help

are they not the same as sata they just color them black? or is it to do with raid?

in bios set your Pci SYNC to 33.33mhz so if you overclock it dosnt try and overclock the PCI frequency and corrupt you're hard drive

They are connected to the Jmicron controller. If you dont use the IDE connectors or the black SATA connectors, you can disable it and windows might boot a bit quicker

Re: Asus P5K Deluxe Setup Help

the black ports are sata ports but use the a jmicron controller.
the intel p35 specification only has 4sata ports.
so asus added two sata ports using a jmicron controller to make a total of 6 sata ports.
