Don't know if it's just an engineering sample, but it's nice to see what the new Asus boards might look like. Personally I'm holding off my purchase 'til this badboy gets released.

Wow, that actually looks pretty sweet... And it's good to see they chucked the useless PS/2 mouse port, and used it for something useful. Now just to see the PS/2 keyboard port go and we can say good bye to that useless legacy junk entirely
I really like the positioning of the PEG0 slot too, no PCI slot wasted either. I wonder when it's gonna be released. I wouldn't mind one of these plus a Quad sometime soon.
it better be worth the wait, im holding of my build until the X38 are released
It does look really nice and well thought out, I agree they should get rid of the Legacy, especially for the ROG series. The whole board actaully almost looks perfect, and I can't really fault much, but I guess we will have to wait and see.
They solved the Sata problem too with GTX's, so finally they've engaged their brain. I also like the amount of effort and thought that has gone into the heatpipes, perhaps it could be a monster Overclocker which is what I'm hoping for with a quad
It does look the part, but then again, so does the Abit one.
Ill bet those daft heatsinks are arent copper either, just anodised aluminium, although Ill be happy to be proven wrong
50p and I expect change.
the inspiration
I thought the same, the colour seems a bit dodge. Although, with the shee size it could still perform well, and keep the cost down. If they get the contact right(unlike the P5K) it hopefully will still perform. Asus should bring out a MB without any heatsinks at all, it would make sense..
I dunno really, I would rather have the board with just functional heatsinks or none at all to keep the costs down and then fit my own + water block etc.
Thats what I was saying, why they haven't thought of that yet. Especially since they brought out the last P5K's with waterblocks, they do want to target the WC'ing market. Whether they trust ppl enuff to do all the chipsets etc is anothet story, but it would still make sense. Maybe they think it wouldn't sell enough but they are so wrong.
I think I prefer the gigabyte for 2 reasons:
1 - all copper heatsink (I agree with clunk looks like aluminium on the asus)
2 - 8 USB2 ports at the back (support for 12 in total)
