    Question e6750 - high temps?

See My System for build details. This is first build so not sure what temps I should expect to see. I've got Orthos running (Small FFTs) and SpeedFan shows core temps fo 68/67 Celcius and Core Temp 0.95.4 shows me temps of 83/82 celsius. Tjunction is 100C - what is that?

Anyway, do I need to be concerned with these temps? Seem a little high to me. Looks like I might be reseating the heat sink again?

SpeedFan shows my cpu fan at 2900rpm and case fans at about 770rpm.

Edit: And idle cpu temps are 33C from SpeedFan and 48C from Core Temp.

    Cheers,
    Dave

What's the HSF you have attached?

Check that your HSF is properly mounted, of course.

SpeedFan seems to not have many advocates, it is known to give inaccurate results. Try using the Intel Thermal Analysis Tool in it's place to get better readings. That might fix the problem then and there.

TJunction, I believe, is the calibration point for the sensor, not an actual temperature reading.

    Re: e6750 - high temps?

HSF is Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Both times I have seated it I haven't been able to do it without wobbling the heat sink on top of the CPU. Is there a knack to this? I can't imagine the wobble helps with the TIM (Artic Silver 5).

Will give the Intel tool a try.

    Re: e6750 - high temps?

my 6750 sits.....24@idle and 38-39@load under orthos, so your temps seem a bit high the only thing different to my rig is the hsf, i use a thermalright ultra-120. check the seating of hsf (did u use the pad already on the hsf? they're a bit pants).

    Re: e6750 - high temps?

Used pad first time, second time used AS5 after cleaning with Akasa TIM Clean. I'll have another go. When you get 24@idle, is that with cpu fan going full tilt or slowed down?

Is there anywhere that I can find safe temps to run this CPU? I.e. the specifications?

    Re: e6750 - high temps?

I'm getting about 25 degrees celsius at idle and about 46 degrees celsius at load with Orthos, temps read with CoreTemp v0.95.4 Beta, Tjunction 100.

Thats with just having run it only for a couple of weeks, however, have not had much of a chance to run constantly or frequently.

I do know that the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro can be fiddlesome when installing with the legs bending and so on.

Try the following link for processor specifications:
