Such things have not been associated with AMD for some time now, and are unlikely to be so in the near future.

Can't seem to find anything which gives us a clue as to what's going on here :S

Personally, I'm guessing it may relate to their motherboard chipset that is due to be launched soon, perhaps in terms of a CPU/GPU/Motherboard platform concept.

Oh god, Couger has reminded me and I feel a fool for not remembering it earlier!

dk04_2, if I recall correctly, although the base processor has been on the market for a while, the "black edition" versions were announced in late August. In channel terms, that means although some vendors may already be stocking them, they have only really just became officially commercially available.

Plus, the whole concept of the "Black edition" processors fits the teaser website perfectly - more strictly binned processors similar to intel's 'extreme' range (must never use the same names as the competition, remember! ¬.&#172.

This idea is further helped by the fact that AMD only have press releases regarding the 'black' series, not a proper web page.

Although I still wouldn't be surprised if they also announce the idea of a "Black" platform of CPU/GPU/chipset.
