There's two lesser version as well.

And blitzen the 975's overclock noticably worse than 965's do/did.. i've seen it with my own eyes.

Once again...a generalisation like that is a poor observation.
Have you seen the board i have running and clocked? Probably not. It went to 3.2ghz comfortably. I know thats not massive but i didnt try any further.

975 generally does have a lower maximum FSB over 965 - By the very nature of overclocking, that doesnt mean they all do

Then again, as Buff said, 975 is slightly faster. Its all swings and roundabouts

Annoying, but you could just get a el-cheapo card with DVI to put in there.

If it's a good price yeah wouldn't be a bad Idea. Would need to be a healthy saving on the EVGA though.

Aaahhh! - I was all excited for a moment then - but this is an ATX board - correct? I'm in need of Micro ATX Ta anyway

Yes, 975X doesn't overclock as high in fsb terms but clock for clock it's a faster chipset than 965 or P35.
How does the Nvidia MCP73 chipset stack up against the intel lot - is it very mature? Am I likely to find many incompatibilities on the whole? Not heard much about this chipset!

thanks staffsMike, the question again, is how does the MCP73 chipset stack up against the Intel ones?

thanks for all the feedback chaps, I'm learning loads today

Wonder if ntune / clockgen works on them. Certainly did on some of the nforce 4 boards with no bios over-clocking options

If it's like the AN-M2HD it'll come with an HDMI>DVI cable in the box.

nme_uk, MCP73 is brand new as in not even officially in retail yet.
gfx wise it'll probably be more powerful than G33 but other than that it's an unknown until we see a few reviews.

I never once said the 975 boards were better. If you look back i only disagreed that they were useless (which is, by anyones standards, a statement made by someone with no experience of ALL 975 boards)..........How is specifiying a particular board generalising? I think you may be confusing yourself.

I have a definite feeling its not the comment you are reacting to....just the person making the comment.......that is a shame.

Not all at Just seems you can't follow what you've actually said

And blitzen the 975's overclock noticably worse than 965's do/did.. i've seen it with my own eyes.
Once again...a generalisation like that is a poor observation.
Have you seen the board i have running and clocked?.
Google for reviews of 975 boards, generally speaking, they have a lower FSB ceiling than 965's
It was not a poor observation, its tried and tested research that can be found on many forums.
You have a great overclocking board - Brilliant But you can't use your board as an example and say that staffsMike has "poor observation". Every board is different.
You could end up with a kick ass 975 board and a rubbish 965 board, but generally speaking, if you are going for FSB, the 965 seems to go higher.

Not at all mate. I just find your posts interesting and can offer a little contrast to others views
Different peoples views are what makes this forum, and trying to understand differing ones can only help everyone.
No personal intent at all mate - are we not friends?
