New build, temperatures

Hiya,

Just built a new PC, everything seems to be working ok. Decided to fire up ASUS probe to check the temperatures and it flashed a warning at me. The CPU was at 29/30, and the MB at 44 - it was alerting me that 45 is the threshold. Is 45 really that bad for a motherboard?

My system is a Q6600 G0, Asus P5K, Inno3D 8800GT, 4x1gb ram, antec P182 case, corsair 520W psu, 500gb sata hdd, sata DVD. No overclocking, stock intel fan.

I can't imagine the system would be overheating but the I don't know what counts as "over".

No, raise the threshold to about 50.

We have nearly the same setup, i'm just waiting to get my 8800GT.

I think i saw somewhere that the motherboard at 45 and over is fine for that board and that the threshold is set too low for the motherboard temp in ASUS PC Probe.

Mine comes in around 35 though and CPU about the same.

Also check out coretemp for the reading of the all the cores on CPU as PC probe is not reliable for the CPU temp.
