As mentioned above generally RAM that requires more then the stock 1.8v sometimes won't boot if more then 1 stick is installed as the extra stick(s) draw more power resulting in the sticks not receiving enough therefore the mobo won't boot. Putting in a single stick can overcome this initial problem allowing you to get into the BIOS to then set the required after which you can then add the remaining sticks.

This is why some people always have a spare stick of generic RAM that only requires stock voltages which can be used simply to boot and get into the BIOS.
