    hard drive mount

    Hello

I bought a 500gb WD hard drive last week from Scan. Would it come with mounting bracket or screws?

Mine came as it is, just alone.

I used 2 screws but it still vibrates a little. My other hard drive has 2 nylon slides that absorb all the vibration.

Where can I get hold of these? I've had a look, but I'm not sure what they are called.

    Re: hard drive mount

Unless specified as being a retail pack, hard drives just come as you got it, in a little silver packet (or some times a clear plastic housing).

I don't think Scan do vibration damping things like that. The closest is a set of brackets that attach to the drive and fit it to a 5.24" bay.

    Re: hard drive mount

Not much help, but some drives come with mounting screws. However if you need more scres, you can probably get them from somewhere like Maplin.

    Re: hard drive mount

Screws and rails come with the case.... having built a fair number of systemd over the years I have accumulated quite a supply. you should have plenty with your case, but clearly you do not.

Places like you local PC store will have them.... check you local paper for adverts....
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

    Re: hard drive mount

yeah i checked maplins as well as scan, dabs etc.

it's strange that there arn't any nylon runners around because that would be so cheap and i would have thought fairly popular. no screws needed just fit to har-disk and insert!

oh well - live and learn!

Do you drink wine? I make my dampening washers from the corks, very easy to cut to size, and do the job.
