That's probably the unconnected pin I thought I sawed. Which means that whoever sent that cable is a ... (expletive deleted).

I think it's be best to post this in the Corsair suppliers forum so that Corsair people can respond.

Re: Corsair, their surge protection and a fryed PC.

Iv sent a PM to yellowbeard, and await his advice on who to contact next.

Iv uploaded a few more pictures from a friends camera to show you everything in a bit better detail, if any specific angles or wires need to be pictured closer up i can go back and do it again. This is the plug that connects the 4 x sata power cable to the PSU, the cable that caused all the problems.

Thanks again for everyones help & advice, it is appriciated!

Re: Corsair, their surge protection and a fryed PC.

Just loks like a normal PCI-E cable connector with 3 GND and 2 12v cables connected, no wonder anything connected to that cable went pop. I also find it hard to actually think that there might me another PSU that Corsair produce in which that cable could be used to power SATA devices. Looks to me like somebody at Corsair thought they'd be doing you a favour but had an off day and custom made you a cable but picked up the wrong cable.

I feel sorry for you as i doubt you could get refund etc for the dmg as their warranty does say that dmg caused by X item is not their problem. Really hope you do get it sorted as sometyhing clearly messed up in the process.

Re: Corsair, their surge protection and a fryed PC.

Just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who responded here!

Corsair have agreed to replace everything, right down to the cable! Overall its been a suprisingly painfree experience, i couldnt have asked for better suppport from them! I got daily PMs updateing me on whats happening from Yellowbeard, and e-mails from their EU side apologiesing and explaining everything that they were doing, right down to them ordering replacements from scan! I have never seen customer service so good!

All i await now is an ETA from them, so kudos to corsair! Their stock has gone up in my book!

I presume then that they admit the cable was wrong. Did they give any explanation on how it happened?

Everybody has an off day me thinks

I think this deserves a 'bloody brilliant' and well done YellowBeard and Corsair for deciding on the morally correct path

They go into my list of companies that will bend over to help my list to date includes Antec, Lian-Li, DFI and believe it or not Freecom

Totally agree. Its nice to hear that they are replacing everything for you because they dont need too, which shows they do care about reputation (what big company doesnt?) so its great too hear it. Also, i think everyone has a bad day and even machines do .

    Glad its sorted.

This is what I'd like to know. It's all well and good sorting things out after the fact to avoid bad PR but I wonder what went wrong.
