Regarding the Mobo, check what RAM multipliers it has as some of the cheap G31 & P31 boards don't have 1:1, however with PC6400 a 3ghz should be theoretically possible using a CPU with a 10x multiplier.

This can be hard to find out though

Case is too expensive, lookng at under £30 for it and again the CPU, as good as the deal may be, bumps the price up so much i wud have to skimp on the GFX or something else. Doesnt make sense for a gaming computer.

Not really going for a big overclock anymore so its not really an issue.

If you're not planning to overclock then some of the cheaper AMD X2s should be ideal? X2 4850e is quite a solid performer from what I've heard, an E7200 is a great choice for overclock though.

I picked up the geil ram but they didnt have the power supply in stock. I got the antec case instead but in all fairness its a superb case i was very impressed with build quality!

    Re: 3850 £300 build

Ordered the rest of the parts today. They didnt have the powercolour or the gainward in stock and they were not sure when they would so i had to get the gigabyte. No great shakes tbf. Also put a few extra quid into the mobo so that he has the extra two ram slots should he wish to put another 2GB into it somewhere down the line.
