    Quick Psu question

not having a shuttle at the moment a quick question on psu's.

if you plug in the power connector to the mobo should the fan come on in the psu or do u need to have the block 4 pin connected as well.

reason i ask is i have a psu tester which plugs into the psu mobo connector and says the psu is working but the fan isent spinning so i am wondering if the fan is controlled by another plug on the mobo.

    think that made sense

    thanks

ok let me put it another way, if u just connect the psu to the mobo without putting the other 4block connector into the mobo , does your fan come on in the psu?

try it in the normal mobo... it'll power it no problems.

have done but the fan doesent spin, so this is why i wonder if it needs the extra 12v connector plugged in on the shuttle mobo. either that or the psu doesent work properly.

cant test it no shuttle..... but of a pain as i dont know whether or not i have recieved a shot psu.

what i need it someone to unplug that connector on there shuttle and tell me if there psu fan spins without it in.

    *hint *hint

dont ask me.. im running my shuttle from a 550w Q-tec psu. My 220w shuttle psu is crap... 9v on the 12v rail. Shuttle refuse to email me back. I'm very disappointed in the whole fiasco!

Short the green wire on the ATX connector with any of the black wires. The fans should then spin up.

If the fan isn't spinning up then its probably broken, or it might be temperature controlled, but I doubt it.
