Address label printer

Does anyone have any experiences of address-label printers? I write a lot of correspondence and usually hand-write the address. This doesn't look very professional. I have an HP all-in-one printer but it's a pain printing address labels on it. I'd like something that is dedicated for the job. I just want to be able to plug it into a USB port and print a label. The label quality must be good: bright white and good adhesion to envelopes. The ink quality must be good too with no smudging if the label gets wet.

So, any recommendations?

Have you tried simply feeding envelopes through the printer instead of using labels? Unless we're doing a spot of bulk mailing, this is a lot easier.

Check out the Dymo Label Writers, they tick all your requirements, I had one ages ago and highly recommend them.

The Dymo connects via USB, prints using thermal transfer so no wet smudges, labels are bright and very professional looking once printed.

I've been browsing Viking Direct's site as I have an account with them and there are a few Dymo Labelwriters on there. They seem to be ideal. A question on the labels: I assume the roll of labels are individual self-adhesive labels?

Yep, rolls consist of individual self adhesive labels linked with backing paper.

I tried that Lucio, but I had all sorts of problems with alignment and some of the envelopes I use are too thick to feed through the printer (I often send important documents in hard-back A4 envelopes).

I bouight one a couple of years ago - at the time this was the cheapest supplier, but it pays to shop around.

Remember that as far as printer manufacturers are concerned, printers are just users of consumable - these printers are thermal - and very good, but the labels are quite expensive.

You can use these with Smart stamp to produce stamped labels.
