Laing DDC or D5 for a pump, if you get a DDC get a XSPC Plexitop Reservoir, the D5 is a more powerful pump. For CPU blocks get a D-Tek Fuzion v2 or a EK Supreme, the D-Tek has no see through top whereas the Supreme has an option of that. Thermochill and Swiftech for the radiators, swiftech also sell the D5 pump branded as an MCP655 there's two different types one with speed control and one without and the 655-B is the one without only a £1 difference in the price. The DDC gets hot so mount it near a fan or where it will be well cooled, although don't mount it upside down (you wont if you have a plexitop anyway). Tubing you can use 1/2" or 7/16". The latter is harder to fit on but there are ways of fitting them, the best tubing is tygon but it's also more expensive. the masterkleer and xspc tubing is also good. Fans I dunno, Yate loons scythes noctuas are all good fans, depends on what radiator you are going to get. The Feser Xchange radiators are also good but cost alot more than the thermochill (which cost alot already).

The custom kit will cost more than the one on scan but it'll perform better.

Hmmm... what about something like this I wonder?

    http://www.aqua-computer-systeme.de/...true&cPath=7_9

excuse the German, for whatever reason it doesn't want to give me an English version (and yes, I've clicked on the British flag : )

Aquacomputer seem to have a good rep... what do you reckon? For GBP320 or thereabouts it seems pretty good? (in a relative way of course...)

    Cheers

Edit: the link doesn't go through to the product... it's the Lian Li PC 7 SE-B II with Aquaero...

Re: If you were going to spend £200+ on a case...

Yep, 'tis a bit annoying that they're english page doesn't want to work... Seems to have the pump, radiator, aqua tube (reservoir) and controller etc all custom installed... looks pretty cool (in an understated sort of way...)

I'd just need to buy the relevant CPU & GPU blocks I think... interesting (and totally over the top for my requirements... but it's only money, right )

I love the look of some of those Vadim systems, but GBP7000 for a PC?? jesus...

My total budget for this system (including 24" monitor & GPU) is around GBP1200-GBP1400 (excuse the GBP malarkey, don't have a pound key on my laptop )... hopefully I can build something rather cool for this sort of money!

    cheers

I wouldn't spend that much on a case personally, can't beat the utility of Antec cases and they cost relatively little. The fancy aluminium ones look nice but they're awful for noise.

depends if you have noisy components....

you can eliminate the noise by suspending your HDD's (or using some good grommets) and investing in some good fans like the noctua P12's

IMHO you can't beat Lian Li's for cases

Unfortunately I don't have any tools (or a workshop) to do the modding myself... so a complete system is interesting.

Looking at the Aquacomputer System, it looks very professionally done, and the price premium doesn't seem that high (for getting someone to do the install for you).... it's rather tempting to me (I have a bit of a problem with always wanting much more than I actually need, you should see my mountain bike!)

Ah well... what's life without gadgets and toys I ask?

You can use quiet components and suspend away but it will still be louder than doing the same in a steel case.

Never much liked Lian Li personally. When Coolermaster had the ATC range they were just awful in comparison, and since that time I've been into noise levels and sensible prices so they're out of the picture.

You can get ones that cool just as well and are just as quiet too, but the difference is, things like the Lian-li A70 do both for not all that much more.

Antec P182s (and Akasa Eclipses) and Antec 900s are all good and well, but the P182 and Eclipse is aimed at being quiet and the 900 is aimed at being cool (yet looks hideous in my opinion). Neither are particularly big either. Fill them up with the same kit and the mid-high end Lian-lis and Silverstones start to show why you pay so much for them. They're just easier to work with, simple as.

Whether they're worth extra is another matter, but if you do fiddle around in your case a good bit, or upgrade regularly, then it becomes an attractive option. Generally speaking they're conservative aesthetically, and subtle in their beauty. Very classy (P182 is of the same ilk, though perhaps too conservative if aesthetics are important to you). No hideous chav lighted cases here.

fair point. but ALU cases are much much lighter: Such as my old empty Thermaltake soprano DX weights the same as my current Lian Li A05 with everything in it... obv, not everyone lugs there PC around, but it sure does help having a lighter case, i also prefer the look of the ALU cases.

But TBH it is all down to personal preference... Some people like Alu, some like steel. hence why there is a market for both.

don't need much tools, adjustable spanner, flathead screwdriver, funnel and a hose cutter or some strong scissors.
