It won't be maximum rpm as it's only going to supply 11v (that's my guess from the very little I know )

Re: 15 Quid For A Case Fan?

Check for one that states xx - 12v. I think some go over 12v slightly.

I'm not a technical person so can't work out how many less rpms you will get if you run the fan at 11v instead of 12v, but I would have thought 1v at the top wouldn't make much difference to the rpms? If it were at the lower end (4/5v) then I'd be worried as some fans won't start at 4v or even 5v.

I will probably get the nexus to use as outake at the top of the case and the scythe to use as the exhaust and keep the noctua as the side intake... unless anyone can see a cheaper and solution in terms of peformance... also has anyone ever used specialtech because i haven't and wanted to know if they were a good company etc...
The Nexus PWM fans have an annoying sound to them and that Scythe one is going to be rather loud.

What kind of annoying sound do the nexus PWM fans have? The non PWM version of the nexus fan gets a pretty good review on silentpcreview.com so I would have thought the PWM version can't be much different.

the scythes loudness i wouldn't be worried about because of the fan controller but which one would be better then pwm or non pwm?

I don't quite recall, I had two of them and there was an irritating sound. I found that others at SPCR had the same trouble as me.

I'd suggest getting the Scythe Slip Stream M (1200rpm one). Very highly rated by SPCR, moreso then the Nexus as it pushes a lot of air whilst remaining quiet when you reduce the voltage. I went from Nexus to them and they do seem better. I like non-PWM myself, I run my fans at a constant speed and get used to what noise - if any - my system produces.

    Been there, done that

But I went for cheaper fans, all under £8 IIRC. I'm still stuck with one of them (a supposedly 'quiet' Silverstone fan).
