Re: Need a few tips to build a new system

I got the G9 a while back, blew my socks off, my microsoft mouse felt like trying to move a dead fish after that. Ever since I've paid particular attention to input devices because they make such a huge difference to comfort. I wouldn't try to spare a penny on input devices from now on and I search review after review until I find the perfect one for me! Try to find one that everyone says is comfortable!

Re: Need a few tips to build a new system

One of the last questions I'll probably ask before ordering the lot:

With monitors, how easy would it be to spot the difference between 2ms and 5ms responses? I've really got nothing to compare to, cause the last one I bought had 25ms. That was a Sony bought for £500 8 years ago

You won't notice, anything under 12ms is barely distinguishable.

Re: Need a few tips to build a new system

    Great, thanks!

Changed the mouse in the list to a Razer Diamondback - a bit more expensive but seems to be worth it. Also, added Vista Home Premium 64bit for all that ram.

    Ordering the lot right now

Re: Need a few tips to build a new system

Hmm, good idea =) Today I'd get only around 7 pounds off on offers. And besides, 9800GTX+ is still on pre-order, so they're not gonna ship it now anyway.

By the way, do I have to do anything special for free delivery? Like, enter promotion codes or something?

    It has.

Look in GD for the thread...

There's been so many about it that I don't know which one is the newest, but I think the latest news is it's changed from being a Hexus user to needing 20 posts.

Whoa, when I ordered my monitor, case and RAM from Ebuyer two days ago, I've selected super saver delivery - that's five working days. And the stuff just arrived a few minutes ago! That's some neat service, especially for free

Re: Need a few tips to build a new system

Picked up my order from the CityLink depot yesterday, and by the time I got home with my box I've noticed a sticker saying "Parcel Qty: 2". And the muppet at the depot reception didn't tell me Now I'll have to call them back and get my speakers.

Anyway, I did put it all together (except for the gpu which is still out of stock). Since that was my first time, had a bit of trouble with installing the heatsink - my case doesn't have a removable m/b tray, and that xigmatec heatsink requires you to clip the fan on after you put it on the cpu, which is a pain. Cable management is also a bit of a problem since they're all quite short, but I did manage something =) I'd still appreciate a few tips, though

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys!
