    New Cooler required

    Hi all,

im currently running a q6600 on the stock intel cooler yeh i knw

at this moment in time my cooler is going nuts due to the severe heat that we are either enjoying or suffering atm. the poor fan is revving at 2900-3000 rpm which has obviously now come to an extent where it is extremly loud and very annoying.

which cpu coolers are the best...is it still the thermalrights and scythes or are there any new brands that have entered the markets?

which would one suggest as being the best at keeping things quiet without compromising performance?

    thanks in advance

    Re: New Cooler required

Both the scythe and the thermalrights are still the best quality imo. There is a new player though, xigmatec and they make some seriously nice coolers. Thermalright rivalling temps but two thirds if not half the price
    http://www.scan.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductId=22841

If you look on scans today only page it is £17.61 and a bargain at that price

They come with a pretty decent quiet fan, it's not the best but it's certainly better than the intel stock.

The scythe ninja is still my favourite cooler as I like to run it with a seriously low RPM fan which it is more than capable of working 80 - 90% of it's potential with

The zerotherm above keeps being mentioned as well but I like to choose (and replace)my own fan, not sure about that one tbh.

some of the Xigmateks I've read are nice too as they have direct touch heatpipes and work really well.

    Re: New Cooler required

I can vouch for the HDT-S1283, but I'd recommend spending the extra £4 and getting the dramatically named 'Crossbow' mounting kit (unless you're planning on taking your cooler off frequently...)

It's made my S1283 much better and it's still only £20 in total!

    cheers

If you don't need one urgently why not hang on and see what the new Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme turns out like (if it arrives!!)
