What is the 9800GTX cooler like when you're just in 2D?

I'm not really keen on replacing a cooler on a Gfx Card, if I'm totally honest. .
I've read that there is a fix for the fan speed, reducing temperatures by around 20C, some even more.

Have you got a link to a 9800 ? Do they operate at a lower temperature ?

Much lower... mine is idling at 58c
used to idle at 51c when it wasnt as hot

you can increase the rpm of the 4850, but it becomes very noisy, the 9800gtx is pretty much silent

That is a fantastic card... slaughters a 4850 in performance, temps and l33tness... It will appear on today only sooner or later, plus it is not in stock, so I suggest you don't order right now, and wait until it appears on today only...

The 9800gtx+ is faster than the 9800gtx and it is cooler because it has a smaller manufacture process

Yeah, I saw. I wont be able to buy it for a few weeks, by which time I'm hoping its in stock. It certainly looks decent. .

I've hated ATi for so long. They finally did something worthy of mention I wanted to like them again. But I have to say I probably would still get an Nvidia card. Sorry AMD.. I'll still buy your CPU's*

The 8800GTX fit in the 900 so the 9800 will. I think the only restriction is you cant have a HDD in the bay level with the card, then it won't fit.

Yeah. I will probably have to remove the fan mount though, as that's where the card will be sitting [on my mobo]

Exactly what I was about to suggest. It's a much better package imo. Cooling and noise is up with the 900, better cable management and more room inside
