    Re: Budget dual core build

Personally I would buy the Antec NSK3840 from ebuyer
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130946

A great silent case, 2x 120mm fans and a 380W earthwatts PSU all of which make up for for cool and quiet (if not silent running)

And from scan (using a couple of today onlys so, pre-12 noon today if you do want any of this)

Less the carriage and adding in the case/PSU it comes to near enough the same price.

Advantages the CPU being a 45w "e" it will be more sought after down the line for low budget/low power HTPC's. Also shaves that energy bill for you (by pennies I know lol)

The 690G motherboard, overall better quality I'm sure and has the better IGP I believe.

AAKS hard drive, will be inaudiable when using antecs quiet mounting stuff.

RAM.. either RAM kit will be good so order from ebuyer if you like. (And the CPU if you want to save a few quid I spose)

Finally the case as mentioned, means you will get a much nicer and smaller, cool and quiet PC. Far easier to live with over a long time and I'm sure it's new owner will appriciate it more

EDIT sorry about the ugly pic.. can't be bothered to rectify it.. I shouldn't be up this early

    Re: Budget dual core build

I have that RAM... very useful

I think there's a different brand if you don't like Corsair, but pricing might be interesting... I think the Corsair ones were 17p more expensive when I bought them, but can't remember if they were on Today Only or not.

    Re: Budget dual core build

I'd still get the antec NSK3480. There is no need for 500W. 380W is overkill in fact lol

    Re: Budget dual core build

Aaah lovely those old PC's, reminds me of my lovely PC running Windows 95, playing Red Alert all day long and the PC almost dieing trying to play the Sims for my sis...
Didn't know nothing about PC's those days, untill PC's started to be of a bit more interest and we decided to kick that one out, took it apart just to see how it all looks, lovely harddrive of 1600MB, a graphic card containing 8MB and some RAM having 16MB each (didn't even knew those existed o.O)

    Lovely lol

Antec aren't the greatest for PSUs too, I would rather have a FSP...

    Re: Budget dual core build

I seriously would of gone for the coolermaster bundle, its top quality or the one that staffs mike suggestes, cos that case you bought is cheap stuff and not good quality and with the psu it came to £53 which is the same price as that coolermaster bundle, and an 80mm fan is noisy and doesnt push that much air, and that ram has slow timings

    Re: Budget dual core build

The case from the reviews on ebuyer, doesnt seem be too cheap looking. The coolermaster looked a bit boring for a 15 year old boy.

I just went for cheapest in the end and couldnt be bothered to keep looking for parts. I noticed every part can be slightly improved for just that few pounds more, and before you know it your £100 over your budget and have a top of the range system that is overkill for the actual user lol

All parts have at least 3 years, 5 years, or lifetime warranty, so should be ok

    Thanks for all your help

Dont take those ebuyer user reviews too heavily, as alot of them are noob reviews, the coolermaster 330 is highly rated case, ask on the buyer forums, half the people on there have it or have used it.

But yeh everything should be ok for that user.

So the parts are here, well just waiting on the bits from scan, coming with citylink.

Now.. I was just wandering.. What OS? Vista, or XP SP2? Or XP SP3?

I don't know where that myth came from. I am running Vista x64 with 2gb of ram and it is very speedy at everything... the only thing I can imagine being quicker is alt-tab into big games... but still that is not that slow...
