    and what do you mean by the 4 wires?
    Follow the wires from the CPU fan into the mobo and just make sure they are solidly in place.

    I would suspect PSU like BUFF but just trying to make sure there is nothing else interfering.

    Re: Faulty motherboard?

    Is this a cycling problem? i.e does it power up and down then up and down in a loop?

    I had this happen and it was a Corrupted BIOS chip on the mobo that caused it. But it could be that the CPU / heatsink isn't seated properly, RAM etc.

    Re: Faulty motherboard?

    hey!

    well, i just tried the psu in my bro's and mums computer....results;

    in bro's = queer noises hadn't heard before, we turned off (he was scared of it blowing >_> )

    in mum's = perfectly fine, then bout 30 secs in it just turned off. tried to boot it again, nothing. so i guess its the psu, yep? since it hasn't worked in 2 others apart from mine!

    Re: Faulty motherboard?

    Certainly sounds like the PSU, grounds enough to RMA it I think.

    If you want to be absolutely sure you could see if your motherboard boots with a working power supply like your brother's.

    Re: Faulty motherboard?

    Worth doing that in case the PSU has borked your mobo.
