Fancy giving me a hand guys?

I'm finally able to start ordering parts for my computer build in the next couple of days, and I'm making up my final list of items I need to buy. I was hoping you guys could keep your eyes peeled for me for the following things at good prices so as to keep me under my original planned budget.

Thanks will be coming to people who help me

So far, I currently have / have ordered the following for the build.

    Code:
    Xigmatek 120HSF DHT CPU Cooler

    Akasa Fan controller 3" bay
    Sharkoon HDD Vibe Fixer III
    Sapphire Dual Slot HD 4850

Re: Fancy giving me a hand guys?

    Ahhhh.. TUT!!

Cheapest place for the HDD I know of
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/144339

    £14 for the 20x
    http://scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=862663

    £15 for the 22x
    http://scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=819459

PSU - ebuyer is £1 cheaper but you get full 5 year warranty direct to scan if bought from them, £60 is certainly a rare today only treat
    http://scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=446788

you are going to take a hit on the Q6600. That price was aria I think but they have gone up to £130 now.

Re: Fancy giving me a hand guys?

If your order is over £50 at ebuyer just select 5 day delivery then P&P is free
I ordered some bits from scan and ebuyer on wed this week ( 10th at 4.30pm)
delivery date from ebuyer was 18th arrived today 12th
delivery date from scan was 12th they should be here mon 15th as they were delayed
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Re: Fancy giving me a hand guys?

Not sure if you are already aware but on this weekends today only page there is a section with optical drives (it's a long way down but it is there). The two drives that staffsMike listed are about a pound cheaper on there:

    20x (Samsung TS-H653B) was: £13.97 TO: £12.91
    22x (Samsung SH-S223F) was: £15.09 TO: £14.09

Not massive savings but if you're buying one of those this weekend you might as well save that extra pound!

Re: Fancy giving me a hand guys?

You must be planning a bit of over clocking in the Antec 300. A 120mm & 140mm pre-installed then 2x120mm fan at the front, nice. nice CPU cooler, just got one for a build I'm doing this week.

Just so you know (if you don't already anyway), the Antec 300's case fans are molex only connections with 3 speed fan controllers, looks like a great best budget case for gaming. Supposed to have great airflow once you install front fans. Only downside, no 3.5" External. I have no problems with having to use srcews to install Optical Drives and HDDs in a budget case (like the Antec), cos the budget "tool less" mechanisms are usually crap, I ended up screwing in my drives in the Coolermaster 330 cos of this.

These are good prices, good luck with the Build! Only not sure about the screen, can you fork out another £30-40 so you know you'll have better quality video playback?

No 3" bays? Oh noes! how on earth am I gonna use this fan controller then?

    Superglue to the inside methinks

Yeah I remember hearing about the 3way switches for the fans but can I route them around the case so they are easy to find if I have to?

I'm looking for the cheapest HDCP compatible monitor I can, its a small budget unfortunatley. The neovo should be ok, shame though cause I want a sexy 24" Samsung and 4870x2 like my friend but my budget is half his lol

EDIT// Possible to do an expansion slot mod to fit the fan controller through?

EDIT 2// NVM, Gonna invert the fan controller inside case, should be loads of room and would probably look nicer in there

Re: Fancy giving me a hand guys?

You just need one of these, save messing around inside the case, oh you can probably find a cheaper alternative somewhere as this costs a third of the case!

I thought the 300 comes with a adapter so you replace one of the front 5.25" blanks, it's fairly standard on many cases now.

    22" Neovo Thin-Edge LCD : £115
Where was this from? normally that's around £150 as are most 22" screens

Re: Fancy giving me a hand guys?

richieuk - is the RAM you intend to use this kit:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductId=21486

    i.e. Corsair part number: TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G

Correct me if i'm wrong but I was browsing the Corsair website for compatible ram kits with the Asus P5Q-Pro and this part number isn't in the list.

    http://www.corsair.com/configurator/...#other_modules

Several other corsair kits are but not that particular one. I'm tired and it's very possible that I misread something along the way but can't hurt to double check this before you buy.

Case should come with an adaptor that you can use that changes one of the plates to a 5.25 one with a 3.25 hole in it.
