amd cool and quiet in XP

How do you use cool and quiet in Windows XP?

I have it enabled in the bios and followed the guide on AMDs website, setting the power management type to minimal(it seems this was written ages ago..) but the ghz setting on my computer doesn't change on idle. Do I need to download any other drivers, does anyone have it working on Windows XP?

My system is a Gigabyte 780g and 4850e CPU

Re: amd cool and quiet in XP

Did you definitely install the utility shown on the AMD site (AMD Power Monitor)? I did this a while ago just by following the same instructions. To be honest, it was hard at first to tell if I'd got it running properly, but it seems to work now. My 2.0ghz cpu drops down to 1.0ghz speed if my machine is just idle, but it often speeds up so if you open System properties in Control Panel a few times it should show the change.
