Just unplugged my hard drive to try and get an old hard drive working as slave
however when i plugged it all back in my pc no longer detects my hard drive either of them.
comes up the boot disk error please enter blah blah
anyone got any idea why my pc has certainly decided not to see my hard drive?
Have you checked that you have the jumpers set correctly and the cable is connected correctly? Some hard drives have an odd system with jumpers whereby if the drive is master and there is a slave the jumper goes one way and if it's master on it's own it goes another even though it's master each time.
yup everything is set up right not even being seen in the bios.
Have you got a second ide port you can connect them to to see if something dodgy has happened to the port? Also other things that can be tried are changing the ide cable and power connectors from your psu. I had one dogy psu that would power up two hard drives fine but would intermittedly drop random drives if 3 were connected, it seemed to happen with particular cables too.
unfornately can only test different power cables, dont think i got any spare ide lying about.
just seems strange how my pc now wont detect any hard drive i own (4 in all) all are old thou
