ok well 1 more question, is it comfortable to use for along time? plastic wrist rest would make me think it isnt but since you own one i guess you know .
I find it really comfortable, even in the position I'm in.

Over the years, I've used a multitude of keyboards including the famous IBM "clicky" (I forget the name now). Anyway, I am most impressed with the keyboard I am using now, which is a simpler version of:

I touch type and I find these keyboards very comfortable to use. I also have to use the delete key least often in these keyboards (key presses are very assuring)

Not a gameing keyboard but the logitech keyboards are very nice for typeing and are not expensive.
The basic Deluxe 250 is well worth the £6

for the full set of multimedia keys
The 600 @ £13.15

lol now you have made this decision harder. I cant actually think of the benefits of getting the saitek now, heres the list:
Pros
Quiet keys
Backlit keys
Saitek quality
Cons
Expensive keyboard
Not many media keys
no macro's
no ergonomics/key layouts
But these £10 ones have ergonomics and alot of keys..... just noticed pcworld have some keyboards and they look good and he price isnt bad either, heres what i narrowed it down to:
Logitech wave keyboard £20 http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/sto...ory_oid=-29751
Or the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 £25 http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/sto...&category_oid=
Cant see anything wrong with either, anyone got these? can get to pcworld tomorrow and grab one hopefully .
If you go to PCWorld don't forget to reserve one, £10 more in the store!

I've found the media keys on the saitek to be more than adequate.

I've got a Wave as my work keyboard and the older Saitek Eclipse I as my home gaming keyboard. In comparison, the Wave is comfortable to use and better for general typing, and has more custom keys, but does take up more room and I'm not sure about the responsiveness for gaming. The Saitek is great for gaming and is really quiet (if you like clicky keyboards, you'll find it a bit "spongy" but I've never found it to be a problem)
