Keyboards... [I need a new one]

I had a Logitech DiNovo Bluetooth Desktop (So MX1000, Keyboard and Numpad) - a mate accidentally spilt Blackcurrent [not a very manly drink but it's better than water].

Anywho I only paid £35 for it new from Tesco which was a BARGAIN, I love the keyboard but I don't want to spend £120 on a replacement set, even if the insurance company has given me enough to cover the price of a new one.

So my question is, what Keyboard should I get?

I liked the low key travel and nice layout of the DiNivo so does anything bluetooth compare well ?

I'm happy to keep my bluetooth mouse and the numpad thing, so essentially I'd be looking for a replacement keyboard [Bluetooth preferred].

Any help with experience, ideas and prices would be much appreciated. Flat keyboards [Not too bulky is ideal ]

For £30 you can get the Saitek Eclipse II from scan which is a very nice keyboard, although it isn't bluetooth, many people would recommend it though.

LOL, the Saitek's nice, but compared to a DiNovo, it's like a cheap toy.

You're gonna struggle mate. The only keyboard which is comparable that I know of is the DiNovo Edge, which costs what the DiNovo's normally cost, but without the mouse or numberpad.

In terms of a value replacement, I've used a Microsoft Desktop 6000, and it didn't feel poor. Mouse is crap, but the keyboard itself is quite nice, though a bit big for me.

The Logitech Desktop S510 isn't too bad either, and is quite low profile, though not to the same extent as the DiNovo. I use that at work, and they've just recently released the S520, which I presume is more of the same. Again, the mouse is crap, but you've got an MX1000 to keep you happy.

My DiNovo suffered due to a coffee strike (they're not exactly resistant to liquid, are they....), and it was good I bought 2 2nd hand to replace it. One spare, and one I'm typing on now.

Logitech G11 here, I'd say go for that, just like the G 15 but without the LCD screen, best keyboard I've ever owned

When you've outgrown membrane keyboards like the G15 and saitek eclipse, look for mechanical keyboards like the das keyboard or the filco majestouch.

Sure they are pricey at 80-100 quid but they will last forever unlike G15 which turns sticky within 6 months of usage. I have tried almost every pro and gaming keyboard in existence (being in a CS clan I get to try out keyboards my mates use) but they just cannot compare with the feel of old IBM keyboards. This year I took the plunge with mechanical keyboards and boy I'm glad I did.

The saitek cyborg keyboard? said to be very good and its cheaper than the g15, better functions to i think(touch buttons etc). Im currently using a microsoft natural ergonomic 4000 keyboard, quite nice tbh and not bad for gaming.

I have the saitek eclipse and find its a superb keyboard except the space bar sometimes doesn't engage properly.

Indeed, go for mechanical switches. They are expensive, but well worth it. The only problem is that you are limited to which you can get being in the UK, i.e. you can't get a filco with a UK layout. Check out this forum for some details: http://geekhack.org/index.php

If you really want a scissor switch keyboard like the dinovo, I hear that the Apple keyboards are good, and they work under windows. Or, for double the money, the Enermax Aurora is supposed to be very good, too.

Great products so far and the keyboards seem to go on for ever without having any issues.

Wow thanks for all your replies guys, I'll look into each of them. I hear a lot about the G series, but I think they are a bit too fancy and gimmicky - also i'd probably be branded more of a geek than i deserve to be; haha. Tho I'll still consider it. The Di Novo was nice for its clean lines, small appearance and it really wasn't that complicated, people normally came in and said ohhhhh-er nice keyboard. [girls or guys]

I've gone and bought a Logitech Ultra Flat Wired, to tide me over until I find a special offer on a keyboard, it's nice, but the compactness of it is a little weird especially with the zero,and biggest aggro is the short cable, what were they thinking ???

I'm just gonna see if there is anything Logitech can offer me before I go out and spend £30+ on another keyboard. But I'll start investigating these keyboards of choice.

Wireless is definitely a boom as I like to be able to hide it or move it from my desk

Edit: There was good auction on ebay the other day - missed it of course - but £30 + p+p for the whole kit, with a non working mouse - not bad, just a shame i missed out.

I think at time of purchase it was 3 years, but it won't cover accidental damage and spilt liquids...

I toyed with the Logitechs and the Saitek for ages before going for the MS Reclusa.

What sealed it for me was the Reserve & Collect thing offered by PC World which knocked £20 off the price.
