PC just built... no power to keyboard

Just completed construction of my PC, the BIOS loads up though there is a message that warns the chassis has been opened... it's a click OK message so I assume nothing major in that.
However the keyboard is not getting any power at all. I've checked on another computer to make sure it's not the keyboard itself, and that works fine. On the motherboard there is a slot called KBPWR and another called USBPW1-4 (my keyboard is a PS2, though I've tried a USB keyboard with the same results). However neither my motherboard nor PSU came with any leads into these slots.
Anybody have any helpful advice? Is it likely to be this that is stopping power flow to the keyboard?

It's an Asus nvidia 750i SLI.

Having scanned through the manual I can see no mention of those connectors apart from on the diagram

    Perhaps try Asus' forums?

Re: PC just built... no power to keyboard

I'm reading about a lot of problems with Asus boards these days, really not going well for them. Like Webby said, the Asus forum is probably a good place.

Re: PC just built... no power to keyboard

The KBPWR pins should have a jumper on them, place a jumper over pins 1 & 2 or 2 & 3. Without a jumper the keyboard won't receive any of the 5V juice which it needs. Same with the USB pins, place a jumper over the respective pins for 5V or 5VSB power (which again, USB powered devices require).

The difference, shorting the 5VSB pin allows the connected device to continue to draw power when the machine is switched off but still plugged into the wall, 5V means the device only powers up when the PC is switched on.

Re: PC just built... no power to keyboard

I tried unplugging the CMOS battery to see if resetting this would solve the keyboard issue, however it seems to have brought another issue up of its own.
Instead I now have this message showing:

Warning!!! USB device over current detected!!!
    Please remove over-current USB device!!!
System will shutdown in _ seconds!!!

Just to note I have no USB devices plugged in I removed the power to the USB ports, no change.

Check your USBPWR pins, make sure you jumper a connection for 5V or 5VSB. Have you tried what I suggset above yet?

Re: PC just built... no power to keyboard

Sorry DDY I hit reply without refreshing so I didn't see your message. I've not heard of jumpers before, but I've got nothing from the motherboard or the PSU that will slide onto the 3pins (not sure which it would ordinarily come with).
the USBPWR I've not slotted anything onto either. No idea where this new USB issue has cropped up from.

    Jumpers - Wikipedia

It's not a cable which connects to those pins, you 'bridge' the pins with jumpers.

I don't know exactly why you get that BIOS message but I suspect it's due to the missing jumpers.

If you bought that motherboard new it should include pre-installed jumpers over the USB and KB PWR pins. Return it for another one stating the reason of missing parts. Otherwise you could buy them separately, e.g. at Maplin.

Or simply e-mail Asus support and request some jumper pins. I'm sure they'd send some out in the post free of charge if you just asked.
