Umm why are people suggesting the RX1500 over the RX1000 when say the reason is not enough buttons? the rx1000 and rx1500 have the same number of buttons, only differnce is shape and the superspinney wheel thing.

it's the MX400 that's the cheap logitech laser with side buttons (£20)

personally I'd be willing to give this a try

    Re: Cheapo gaming rig, perhaps

The 4 heatpipe allows for a second fan but i guess its a mute point since it should still be getting rid of heat. I think ill go for it at £11 so just before i order am i missing anything?
Heatsink- Is there any better 92mm fans then the stock one? if its ~£5er ill get it.
Arctic 5 paste(is there any better?)
Crossbow mounting kit- the ACk-I7751 is the only one instock, how does it differ from the 7753?
And should i get more intake fans?Like mod one for the 5" bay?.

    Re: Cheapo gaming rig, perhaps

Without hearing the stock fan it is a bit hard to say if it would be worth getting a replacement...

If I was going to then I would get the Akasa Amber 92mm http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=268277... very quiet and moves a reasonable amount of air.

As to the crossbow 7751 is designed for 3 heatpipe coolers and 7753 for 4 heatpipe coolers so you will be fine with the 7751 that is available.

    Re: Cheapo gaming rig, perhaps

I'd recommend against the Samsung DVD drive... I've had 2 of those die on me recently Now trying an Optiarc (same as Sony/NEC apparently?), I'm hoping this'll be more reliable!

    just my 2 cents

Remember to register your hexus account (there's a sticky somewhere that explains how) for free postage, that'll save you £8.93.

If you've already done this, just ignore me.

    Re: Cheapo gaming rig, perhaps

The mobo you have picked is nice, but if you want cheapo you could save £20-25 and get a Gigabyte P31 board, since the E5200 multiplier is 12.5 you don't need an expensive board to get a good overclock out of it.

It all depends if you plan to keep the board a long time and upgrade the CPU or RAM in the future I suppose.

Also you could buy a 8800gt second hand off ebay, if you are patient and find the right item you could get one for around £55-60, which is alot of card for that money. Depressing really since mine cost £140 only about 6 months ago.

To be honest, i'm pretty happy with that rig above, But the p5ql pro instead of the p5ql-E, I'll have to email scan to ask them if they could put it all back on offer for me

Hmm, might have to go for that P31 Gigabyte motherboard. As my internet connection is so cruddy, can someone please tell me if Gigabyte boards are upgradable via USB stick?

    Cheers guys.

Scan deliver when they say they do?

Problem is that you don't find out if the day you picked is the day they will deliver until 8pm at night when it's too late to do anything about it. Scans slightly dodgy stock-control makes this worse then it should be.

eBuyer are more likely to deliver when you want (I've ordered a LOT from both companies)

I personally have not had to deal with eBuyer CS yet but judging by what others on these forums say, I won't have any troubles if I ever need to contact them.

If I have to be in to accept the delivery, I will always choose eBuyer over Scan, else you can waste a days holiday. If you have someone who can be in for you whenever or you can get to your CityLink depot easily during their opening hours, Scan may be a better bet.

By upgradeable I assume you mean for a BIOS flash?

If that is what you want to know then yes they will update from a USB stick, for use with EZFlash if the board supports it or they will allow you to boot from the stick as a USB hard-drive to run a DOS based flash utility.
