    Re: Boot up issues

Only way is a fresh install, Ive never tried the repair option on the XP setup disc with this kind of fault, so dont know if that would work at all, but could be worth a try

    Re: Boot up issues

Used the xp boot cd and chose to re-instal windows. The following options gave me a choice to repair windows xp rather than a full instal so i chose that and it basically re-installed the drivers etc i guess .Once finished it simply boot up into the activate windows screen. Luckily the internet connection was still working and its all reactivated and registered. Problem is the 2.6ghx cpu only registers at 1.9ghz so i thought i would change the FSB to see if that helped but i put it to high and now the pc wont boot again lol. It brings up a black screen asking fora flppy disk or something. Im guessing i can just take the cmos battery out for a bit and replace it which should erstore the defaults? At least i hope so otherwise im stuffed lol

    Re: Boot up issues

yeah, try resetting the cmos, and failing that, i think try a format and a full fresh install
unless anyone else has any ideas?
