Will a DVI male (monitor), VGA male (PC) cable work the other way around?

Ok, just kinda worried that because of the hub doing it's thing routing the data etc (as well as putting the power in) it might be a bit slower than just 1 5m cable? I use my PC for games as well as work so yeah...

Ah damn, I give up - I did a bit of reading about DVI (I'm planning on probably getting a high-res LCD if I can find one that doesn't suck dark-wise like the 3008wfp did) and apparently technical limitations keep the maximum to 5m... There's a special gold-plated one that claims to go past the recommended standards but still working at 7.5m, but it's maximum res is 1900x
